This month, as part of our Kiva initiative, we’ve lent $500 to Blanca who is responsible for raising her two granddaughters. She has been selling tortillas for the past 2 years and working relentlessly to enable her to give her granddaughters the basics to survive.

One of her granddaughters suffers from Down’s Syndrome, which makes Blanca’s work even more critical in helping them to live a fulfilling and comfortable life.

She will use the loan to invest in the purchase of corn and will make improvements to the kitchen of her business, which will improve the image of the business. With this, she will undoubtedly improve her sales and attract new customers.

In turn, this will help Blanca to contribute to her local economy, and give her family a better lifestyle and standard of living.
