KIVA:: Our June Entrepreneur

Weighted down under some heavy grey clouds, we may be feeling quite sorry for ourselves (and rightly so, after months of perpetual drizzle!), but our monthly Kiva donation has reminded us at Mash that a bit of rain is manageable compared to the challenges others face around the world.

Weighted down under some heavy grey clouds, we may be feeling quite sorry for ourselves (and rightly so, after months of perpetual drizzle!), but our monthly Kiva donation has reminded us at Mash that a bit of rain is manageable compared to the challenges others face around the world.

This month we were drawn to Nahla in Iraq. A tailor by trade, she is also a married mother of five who is well known in her area for being trustworthy and reliable; traits that bring her loyal customers. Nahla is looking to expand her business in order to provide security and a stable future for her children, and securing a KIVA loan was the first step towards purchasing the two sewing machines and extra fabrics she was after.

Mash is proud to have contributed almost half of her required amount, lifting her from 3% to an impressive 51% of her goal raised, to get her that bit closer to sustainability.
