Mash win Staffing Agency of the Year at the Drum Experience Awards 2019

Well, we did it! 2019 has been an amazing year for Mash – with big wins like Samsung KX and a 3-year contract with BMW, and new ventures like developing an experiential training programme and going airside for the first time with Beats – and last night the icing was spread liberally across the cake when Co-Founder of the Drum, Diane Young, presented Mash with Agency of the Year at the Drum Experience Awards.

Well, we did it! 2019 has been an amazing year for Mash – with big wins like Samsung KX and a 3-year contract with BMW, and new ventures like developing an experiential training programme and going airside for the first time with Beats – and last night the icing was spread liberally across the cake when Co-Founder of the Drum, Diane Young, presented Mash with Agency of the Year at the Drum Experience Awards.

So first of all, THANK YOU. To our Mashers, we expect so much of you – in energy, skill, resilience and all round spectacular-ness – and you keep on delivering, teaching us new ways to best engage with consumers every day. To our clients, who listen to our advice, appreciate our hard work… and write outstanding testimonials when we ask (you know who you are!)

And of course a huge thank you to everyone in the office. Like a decorator who never paints her own house, it would be all too easy to focus on building team spirit for our clients’ teams while forgetting to do the same back at HQ. But there’s no danger of that happening at Mash – we support one another, celebrate the wins together and look out for each other when work gets a little crazy.

Perhaps every business thinks they’re more than a business. Maybe every bunch of people with a common goal and a shared kitchen feels like a family. I don’t know. But it definitely feels like that at Mash, and I hope my family continues to grow, achieve, experience and learn. Because these are the traits that make us special.

And we certainly did a lot of them in 2019. We grew by 60%, our best YOY growth ever. We achieved a lot too – like recruiting and training 80 awesome people for Samsung KX, and hosting thousands of guests across the whole of Twickenham Stadium’s East Stand. There were also many memorable experiences – from winning pitches to office bake-offs. But what stands out most for me is how much we learned.

BMW taught us that there’s no point pitching unless you give it your absolute best shot. Samsung taught us that aiming high is inspiring and energising, not scary or difficult. Twickenham taught us that scale doesn’t have to affect quality. And Nike continue to teach us about passion and belief. Our clients, staff, suppliers and internal teams all have value to share. And we will continue to learn what we can – and in so doing, hopefully become an even bigger and better staffing agency in 2020.
